If you like to indulge every now and then, we don’t blame you. There’s a reason we all love the occasional soft pretzel and pizza slice: the glorious salted dough. That said, be careful. This simple-carb snack can quickly snowball into the calorie and fat counts of a full-blown meal.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Auntie Anne’s pretzel that’s topped with red meat is at the top of the no-go list. It has more calories than two medium slices of Pizza Hut pepperoni pizza! Opt instead for more basic options. The jalapeño pretzel has the lowest calorie count on the list, plus it has the fat-burning properties of peppers (the heat revs your metabolism). If that’s too hot for your tastes, the Original pretzel has only 10 more calories and a similar nutritional profile. (Both varieties contain about half a day’s allowance of sodium, so if you indulge, be sure to budget wisely.) And whatever you do, skip the butter — it adds 30 calories and 4 grams of fat you don’t need, 3 of them saturated.
