Instead of spending six million dollars on a Superbowl ad, KIND Snacks decided to give away six million dollars worth of KIND bars.
After watching a short video currently on Adweek.com (which will later debut on YouTube), all you have to do is launch your web browser and type in the link that appears at the end of the video. (Hint: it’s kindsnacks.com/greatbars.)
And no, this isn’t a joke or a desktop-disabling virus. Your favorite wholesome nutrition bar company is giving away one free treat to each of the first three million people to subscribe to their newsletter.
“At KIND, we’re really good at making snacks,” Drew Nannis, KIND Snacks VP of integrated communications, told Adweek in an email. “As you can tell, we don’t always make the best ads. Instead of spending $6 million on a 30-second spot to convince the world to try our products, we thought it’d be more efficient to give them our product to try for themselves.”
So while you won’t witness KIND debuting its first-ever Super Bowl ad this year’s gathering, you might find yourself reaching for a dark-chocolate-glazed bar speckled with fruits and nuts. And that’s definitely a better pick than the usual Super Bowl spread of chips, dip, and fried wings.
“The reality is that when people try our bars, they love them,” Nannis added. “In fact, nine out of 10 people will purchase a bar once they taste it, so it was an easy decision for us.”
