What Julianne Hough Actually Eats in a Day

Yes, she eats pasta!

For actress and longtime Dancing with the Stars judge Julianne Hough, staying fit and healthy is paramount to her success and wellbeing. That's because for her, working out and eating right isn’t so much about aesthetics as it is about how she feels. “I'm just happier, I have more energy, I just feel better when I work out [and eat right],” she said in a recent interview. We have the deets on what exactly it is she eats in a day to maintain her incredible dancer bod and keep her feeling great. Who knows? Some of her tips may help you get that flat belly you’ve been working towards!

Breakfast

When it comes to breakfast, Hough loves experimenting with the juicer she recently bought. “Whatever's in my fridge, I'll just throw … in,” she told Elle. Since she usually enjoys a sweeter flavor, green apples and carrots are some of her go-to ingredients. She’s also a big fan of ginger and lemon, one of the most nutritionally dense fruits on the planet. In fact, just half of the citrus provides more than 100 percent of the day’s vitamin C! To boost the staying power of your juice and increase its nutritional benefits, pair your juice with some type of healthy whole food. Post-Workout Snack

After her juice has digested a bit, it’s off to the gym. For her, variety is key when it comes to exercise. "I get bored very easily, so I like to switch up my workouts. I'll do yoga, I'll go spinning, I'll go on a hike, I'll do a personal training session where I lift weights. I like to do a lot of cardio. Sometimes I'll go take a dance class,” the blonde bombshell tells Elle. After she gets her sweat on, Hough usually cracks open some eggs. “I like to steam my eggs, and then have tomato and avocado.” Smart move, Julianne! Eggs are packed with protein, a nutrient that repairs muscle tissue that broken down during tough workouts. The avocado, on the other hand, provides healthy fats that help ward off hunger pangs and spot-reduce belly fat.

Lunch

For lunch, the two-time champion of DWTS keeps it simple. "I'll do a healthy wrap with a salad-type concoction within the wrap that's salad and chicken and stuff like that,” she said. If you’re planning to opt for a similar lunch, we suggest sticking to wraps that are high in fiber and 100% whole grain. We like Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Whole Grain Tortillas.

Dinner

On a typical evening, Julianne opts for either chicken or fish with a side of some sort of vegetable, a great pairing for anyone trying to stay trim. Fish is a great source of protein and healthy fats, and when paired with fiber-filled veggies, the result is a filling and nutritious meal.

Sunday Funday, AKA Cheat Day

Though Hough keeps it clean throughout most of the week, she does like to indulge on the weekend. "I do love my Italian food, and pasta, and pizza," she says. Whether it involves preparing a hearty pasta dish for a girls' night in or munching on some candy while watching the latest flick, Hough’s main focus each Sunday is to have fun and relax. We totally respect that; work-life balance is what it’s all about!
