This Grocery Store Is Making It Easy to Shop Like a Diet Pro

How awesome would it be if you could have a dietitian come with you to the supermarket every week and tell you exactly what to buy to reach your weight loss goals–without paying some absurd session fee?

Thanks to Aldi, a grocery chain with locations in 32 states across the Midwest and East coast, you can now get the next best thing. As part of the chain’s “Dietitian’s Picks” program, grocery items with stellar nutritional profiles will be will flagged so shoppers can easily spot them in the store and add them to their cart. Five registered dietitians who sit on the Aldi Advisory Council will handpick their selection—and they aren’t just marking the fruits and veggies like you might assume. Their picks include everything from fresh meat and produce to kid-friendly choices and fresh bakery goods.

Don’t have an Aldi nearby? You can still get some of their top-notch grocery store intel! Here’s a sneak peak into two of the RD’s low-cost picks:

"As a mom of two, I understand it can be difficult to find food options that are affordable and nutritious. My picks will not only make you feel good feeding it to your kids, but you'll also feel good about the money you save, " Sally Kuzemchak, MS, RD said in a press release. She recommends picking up Lunch Buddies Natural Applesauce, SimplyNature Organic Frozen Strawberries and SimplyNature Reduced Fat 2% Organic Milk.

Her colleague, Mary Donkersloot, RDN suggests “choosing foods that are good for you, taste good and are satisfying." Some of her go-tos include SimplyNature Creamy Almond Butter, Southern Grove Walnuts and Fit & Active Nonfat Yogurt.
