This Soul Food Chain Is Planning to Open 200 Locations

The largest growing soul food chain is announcing a North American takeover.

Most soul food restaurants are mom-and-pop businesses which serve their local communities, but we may soon have a chain spreading the gospel of high-quality soul food across all of North America. Celebrity's Soul Food, a company lauded as the first and largest growing national soul food chain, has announced an ambitious plan to roll out as many as 200 restaurants in the next year.

Founded in 2014 by husband-and-wife duo Fredrick and Taja Jacobs, Celebrity's started as an executive catering service. The freshly-prepared food bursting with flavor has propelled the brand into a "quality casual" restaurant concept ready to expand through franchises across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. With the opening of its corporate headquarters in Ocala, Fla., in the rearview mirror, Celebrity's has already signed up 24 franchisees, who are preparing to open 30 restaurants. While the locations are yet to be revealed, Frederick Jacobs says the Sunshine State can expect to see at least five more locations.

The chain has struck a partnership with the United Franchise Group, setting itself on a path toward fulfilling its goal of a 200-location expansion. Menu staples like Shrimp & Grits, Fried Chicken, Cornmeal-Dusted Catfish, and Braised Oxtails will be served in a setting designed for a VIP experience. Diners should expect to spend about $30 for a two-person meal at Celebrity's.

Look for brand new Celebrity's locations in your state as early as next year. Celebrity's is not the only chain restaurant to recently reveal plans for an expansion—This Beloved Sandwich Chain Is Opening 17 New Locations.
