Chipotle Is Giving Away Free Burritos for Its Holiday Extravaganza Promotion

Fact: Everything tastes better when the price tag is $0.

Do you know what's better than a Chipotle burrito? A free Chipotle burrito.

This week, the burrito joint is giving away 500 free burritos daily. As the brand announced in an Instagram post—complete with some truly '90s-inspired Word Art—it's currently doing its annual "Holiday Extravaganza" celebration:

This isn't the first time this year Chipotle has gone all-in on free burritos. In March, it launched a robust rewards program, in which diners can earn points and redeem them for free burritos. Then, in May, during the height of basketball season, the company announced a promotion where whenever a basketball announced said the word "FREE" during a game, 1,000 lucky social media followers would earn a free meal. (And then there's also that little trick where you can always score free guac. Every saved dollar counts!)

But this is the first time in 2019 Chipotle has handed out food with essentially no strings attached. The rules for the Holiday Extravaganza are simple:

  • Chipotle will post a code to its Instagram page.
  • Followers can text that code to a dedicated SMS number: 888-222.
  • The first 500 people who text get a code for a free burrito, which they can redeem at any participating U.S. Chipotle location.

Now, of course, there are indeed a few caveats. (This is still a corporate giveaway, after all.) First, each individual mobile number can only win once. Also, after every code is posted—and all 500 burrito codes claimed—that particular post gets deleted, so you'll need to act fast!
