Dessert for breakfast? Maybe!

Cheerios just debuted a new cereal flavor: Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios. This breakfast option joins Cheerios' classic flavors including Multi-Grain, Apple Cinnamon, and the always-favorite, Honey Nut. General Mills already had a chocolate flavor in the Cheerios family, as well as some fruit options, but the new flavor combines both elements, yielding a very decadent breakfast.

In a recent post, Instagram user @cereallife calls out the new item and says that sources have revealed it would be in stores by December. However, you can find Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios on Meijer's website now. Cheerios have often been lauded as a healthy option for breakfast, though some of its flavors are considerably healthier than others. For the most healthy Cheerios breakfast, original plan Cheerios are your best bet, as they aren't loaded with added sweeteners and sugars.

The Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios are a bit more caloric than its plain counterpart, which only boasts 140 calories in a 1 1/2-cup serving. The Chocolate Strawberry variety, on the other hand, has 140 calories in just 1 cup.

The sugar content in Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios is also much higher. Plain Cheerios have 2 grams of sugar in one serving, but Chocolate Strawberry Cheerios have 11 grams—and that's for a smaller serving. It's worth noting that even though these Cheerios are sweeter, they still pack vitamins A and C, as well as several minerals, most notably calcium and iron. Overall, this breakfast cereal is best enjoyed in moderation, or maybe even saved for an after-dinner dessert. Until December rolls around the corner, check out your local Meijer to see if the new Cheerios are in stock. If you don't have a Meijer near you, see if your favorite grocer carries the new Cheerios so you can try them out for yourself.
