Drake, Champagne Papi Himself, Releases a $550 Bottle of Champagne

With that price tag, it should be the best you've ever had.

As if you needed any more proof, Drake truly is living his best Champagne bottle life: He just debuted his very own $550 bottle.

The Toronto rapper, whose Instagram handle is @champagnepapi (natch), recently announced that he will close 2019 with the addition of two 2008 vintage Champagnes to his Mod Sélection Champagne line.

The Mod Sélection Rosé Vintage 2008—a blend of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay—is the one with the steepest price tag of $550. The rosé in this champagne is made using the saignée method, which is the French term for "to bleed." In this context, saignée refers to the process of concentrating red wine by removing—also known as bleeding—some of the juice from the tank.

According to the appropriately named European drinks trade publication The Drinks Business, the wine has a deep salmon-colored hue with "concentrated and complex fresh red fruit on the palate." Notes of ginger, honey, and sweet spice can also be detected.

The other champagne bottle to hit the market just before the year comes to an end is the Mod Sélection Réserve Vintage 2008, which goes for a slightly less expensive $480. It's also a mix of Pinot Noir, Meunier, and Chardonnay.

These will be the third and fourth additions to Drake's Mod Sélection Champagne line. The other two—Mod Réserve Champagne ($300) and a Mod Rosé Champagne ($400)—launched earlier this year, shortly after Drake announced he would team up with Brent Hocking, the founder of DeLeón Tequila, to create the luxury Champagne brand. Started from the bottom, now we here, indeed.

So, are you down to try it? After all, you only live once. That's the motto. (Sorry, we couldn't resist.) And if you're looking for something at a bit more attainable of a price point, check out The 27 Best Champagnes and Sparkling Wines for New Year's Eve—All Under $30.
