We all know that uncomfortable feeling: when you're so hungry, your stomach is so empty that it takes a toll on your mood. You turn irritable seemingly at the snap of a finger and all manners go out the window. There's a term for this—hangry. It happens when you're so hungry, it starts to affect your mood, leaving you feeling angry and unpleasant.
And according to a new survey, New Yorkers are the biggest offenders. A poll of 5,000 people from all 50 states, conducted by Snickers, found that 75 percent of Americans said they suffer from getting hangry, according to the New York Post. The average time it takes for someone to go from hungry to hangry is 32 minutes, and people are most likely to get hangry on Monday at 2:15.
The responses for states range from the least hangry at "pretty chill," (Nevada, South Dakota, Illinois) to most hangry at "furious" (Florida, California, Utah). The level of hangriness in between, from most hangry to least, includes "fuming," "crabby," "annoyed," and "on edge."
