Kroger Wants to Stock Your Entire Wine Rack for Under $150
You might be most familiar with Kroger's affordable groceries, but the popular supermarket is coming for your wine rack next. As part of its budding wine delivery service (which launched in 2018), the popular grocery chain just launched a "build-your-own-pack" feature that lets you customize six- and 12-bottle cases and have them shipped to your home—no grocery run needed.
In partnership with the spirits delivery company DRINKS, the new feature is a move to expand Kroger Wine, a digital wine platform that launched in late 2018 with classes, a wine club, delivery deals, and sommelier-stamped advice. Now, folks are able to mix and match from a selection of 45 different wines, including all the greatest hits—merlots, Sauvignon Blancs, and rosé blends, among others. Most bottles range between $10 and $16, with shipping included in the cost. All you have to do is enter your age (21+), enter your location (the service is available in 19 states, plus Washington, D.C.), and voila!: wine will arrive at your door.
What's more: There's currently a major money-saving promotion to go along with it right now, in celebration of the Thanksgiving–Cyber Monday holiday period.
Here's the deal: From Monday, November 25th, until Monday, December 9th, customers can use the code CYBER50 to receive a $50 discount off most of the company's signature, pre-assembled 12-bottle wine collections. Of the 21 collections, just two are excluded: the Discovery and Winter White packs (the latter of which isn't yet available on their site anyway). Generally, these cases run anywhere from $150 to $250. With the discount code, prices drop to an average of $8.50 per bottle—or a little more than $100 per case. (The fancier offerings, like the French Rouge Case, will naturally be a bit pricier.)
"Kroger is continuously broadening how customers can engage with us no matter what their needs are. Our mission is to serve our customers anything, anytime, anywhere, and Kroger Wine represents an additional way our customers can shop with us," Jody Kalmbach, Kroger's group vice president of product experience, said in a statement. "With the new 'build-your-own pack' feature, Kroger has brought its industry-leading convenience and personalization to the online wine-buying experience and expanded our leadership in the wine category."
