This Beloved Sandwich Chain Is Opening 17 New Locations

The expansion brings this restaurant's classic menu items to two new states.

Grilling up sandwiches like Cheese Steaks, Chicken Hoagies, and Corned Beef on Rye is what Lefty's does best. The fast-casual chain is rapidly expanding, meaning new customers in California, Michigan, and Texas will soon be able to try out the grill in their neighborhoods.

The COVID-19 pandemic didn't slow the Michigan-based chain's plans to open multiple new locations in 2020. Three of the 17 additional restaurants will soon pop up in the California and Texas cities of Woodcrest, San Bernardino and Houston. New Michigan stores are also slated to open their doors in Flat Rock, Flint, Plymouth, Port Huron, and more locations. (Though this chain is expanding, here are 9 Restaurant Chains That Closed Hundreds of Locations This Summer.)

The "cheese steak grill" chain, which began in Michigan in 2012, has already grown to nearly 20 locations. CEO Allie T. Mallad attributes the company's success to a limited menu, takeout and drive-thru options, and very few cheesesteak competitors. The company's goal is to expand to 40 locations by the end of this year, 75 by the end of 2021, 150 by the end of 2022, and 1,000 by 2027. To find the closest Lefty's to you, click here.

"In 2020, we have been able to successfully build out and open new locations in our home state of Michigan and expand to Texas and California during the height of the pandemic in response to our Customers wanting more Lefty's options in their local communities," the chain's founder Sam Berry says in a statement.
