McDonald's Is Hosting This Drive-Thru Event at Over 100 Locations
While drive-thrus have become a hot commodity because restaurant chains can utilize them to safely serve customers during the pandemic, McDonald's has found another clever use for their service windows.

The fast food giant will be conducting drive-thru job interviews at more than 100 of their Californian locations, stretching from Santa Barbara to San Diego. According to Nation's Restaurant News, the Drive Up Hiring Day will take place on Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The interviews require no prior scheduling and interested candidates will be able to simply drive up to the select location's windows and receive an on-the-spot interview opportunity. Regional operators noted the interviews will take place at a safe social distance. "Applicants can stay in their vehicles or sit in the designated interview areas," the company said in a statement.
The chain is hoping to make thousands of hires with this effort. In June, they announced they're looking to expand their workforce by 260,000 workers this summer, and this may be a way to try and meet that goal. The service industry as a whole has started rebounding and hiring back some of their lost workforce, but the staffing levels are still 2.5 million jobs below the pre-pandemic ones.
Interested job applicants can initiate their application process ahead of time via text message or by using Alexa or Google assistant. They'll then receive a text message with a link to continue their application process. For more information and to find participating McDonald's locations, check out this list.
Most recently, McDonald's made headlines with their new Travis Scott–branded meal, which is their first celebrity-endorsed menu addition in almost 30 years.
