This Is Costco's Most Expensive Membership for Sale
If you need to buy groceries or household items, you can almost always count on Costco to supply them—and a lot of them. Costco's gift card selection, however, is a lesser-known section at the bulk grocer that doesn't get nearly as much attention as it deserves.
Among the discounted gift cards you can find gems like a 10-pack of AMC Yellow Movie Tickets for just $49.97 and a $500 gift certificate for Alaska Airlines for just $450 for Costco members. But the latest addition to Costco's gift card section will literally make you gasp. The discount retailer is now selling a one-year membership for a private jet service priced at $17,499. So what does this high–price point gift card actually get you? The Wheels Up Core membership will give you access to "one of the world's largest owned and managed fleets of private aircraft," which includes 300 planes owned by Wheels Up and more than 1,250 partner aircraft in four different jet categories. It also includes a $4,000 flight credit, which you'll need in order to cover the actual cost of flying on one of these planes you now have unlimited access to. But before you start dreaming of tropical beach getaways on your private jet, keep in mind that this flight credit amount will cover about an hour of air time in a King Air 350i, according to The Points Guy.
Costco did stack the membership with other perks, of course—but none of them have anything to do with flying. For example, what purpose does the $3,500 Costco Shop Card serve here? Though, we'll give a nod to the one-year subscription to Inspirato, an exclusive club that gives subscribers access to luxury vacation homes, hotels and resorts, and boutique experiences (the cost of which are separate).
Unsurprisingly, the announcement of this member perk hasn't gone without raising a few eyebrows and prompting a few stabs on social media.

While some may end up reveling in this deal, most of us will just cap our "luxury spending" at bulk wine and coffee.
