3 Costco Recalls You Need to Know About Now

There's a quality alert out right now, too, so take notes!

Grocery shoppers are back to loading up their carts at Costco, and so we don't blame you if you don't remember everything you bought last week. With that being said, there are probably some items in your kitchen that you probably don't remember being there.

However, with several recalls being announced recently, it's important to check your freezer, pantry, and cabinets for any that could be hiding. They could be dangerous to you and your family. Check out the list of Costco products below to see if any are in your home.

Approximately 862,000 pounds of specialty Italian meat trays with varieties like prosciutto, soppressata, Milano salami, and coppa were recently recalled because they could be contaminated with Salmonella. The items were sold between Feb. 18 and Aug. 18, 2021, and have been linked to 36 Salmonella illnesses in 17 states ranging from May 9 through July 27, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Costco recently alerted members of the recall if they purchased the item, but the "Best by" date says 2/11/2022, so it could still be in customers' refrigerators. If it is, members can return it to their local Costco for a full refund.

This frozen meal was recalled several weeks ago because it could contain plastic, but the "BEST IF USED BY" dates range from 05/11/2022 to 06/01/2022. Although it was taken out of Costco warehouses around mid-June, like the Italian meats, it could be in members' freezers.

"Our supplier, Pacific Meridian Group, is recalling their green chili (used as an ingredient in this item) due to the potential presence of plastic," Don Lee Farms says in the recall announcement sent to Costco members who purchased the product.

This sunscreen was recalled in the middle of the summer because of low levels of benzene, which is a chemical linked to blood cancers, says The Washington Post. The two types sold at Costco include 60+ and 70 SPF Beach Defense Water + Sun Neutrogena Sunscreen.

"Costco records indicate that you, or one of your add-on members, have purchased Neutrogena Beach Defense aerosol sunscreen spray sold as Costco item numbers 1374031 and 1292930," the alert sent to members says. "Stop using the affected products immediately and return them to Costco for a full refund."

While this isn't an official recall and is listed by Costco as a "Product Notice," the Kirkland Signature Lactose-Free Milk is an item members should check their fridge for because it "has not met quality standards."

The milk was sold only in warehouses in the Bay Area in California and has a "USE BY" date of August-28-21. No information about why the alert was issued is given.
