These Items Are Still Missing From Costco's Food Court
By now you may have heard the news: Costco is bringing back some beloved items to its food court menu, plus indoor and outdoor seating. But based on the warehouse's most recent update, a full return to pre-pandemic times is still a ways away.
While some of your favorite foods are making their comeback (hello, churros and ice cream!), others are still missing—as is what you put on them. For now, Costco is keeping condiments behind food court cash registers. (Related: Costco Foods You Should Always Avoid, According to Nutritionists)
Instead of reaching for ketchup, mustard, onions, or relish for your hot dog (which will always be $1.50 with a soda—no matter what), you'll have to ask a food court employee for your condiments of choice. The same goes for cutlery, napkins, straws, and salt and pepper.
Removing these self-serve stations is a move that many grocery stores, restaurants, and other eateries took at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic to reduce the number of items that customers and employees touch. Indeed, it can be hard to adequately clean each station between use.
More than a year later, Costco is keeping this safety measure in place, as well as mask mandates, social distancing, and special senior hours. The chain is also busy helping distribute the COVID-19 vaccine nationwide. Head to the warehouse's website to see if your state is on the list.
