Most Costco Warehouses Now Have This Popular Perk Back
This month has been a busy one at Costco. Members may have seen the tables come back to the indoor food courts, along with churros, as they shop without a mask (if they are fully vaccinated). CFO Richard Galanti spoke earlier this month about what the warehouse chain was doing in the coming weeks, and by now most warehouses should have one Costco staple perk back.

The chain got rid of many perks in March of 2020.
When the pandemic began, Costco put several safety rules in place that would ultimately be there for over a year. Masks were required, the food court menu was limited and without seating, and social distancing measures were displayed throughout the warehouse. In addition, samples and food demos were taken away.

Costco tried bringing back several sampling and demo events in the fall of 2020.
However, the sample stations looked nothing like before. Plexiglass barriers were set up around the stations to protect employees and customers, and samples were placed in little white bags. Shoppers were not allowed to eat them in the store, as it would require them to remove their masks.
Galanti said that only "a few single-serve items like cookies and crackers, take-out only, no-cook to prepared sample items, and a few enhanced talking demos such as items for display only" were available through these tests, which lasted into Spring 2021. It wasn't a permanent fix, though…until now!
Samples being phased into warehouses across the country.
"I'm happy to report that over the coming weeks we'll begin a phased return to full sampling," in 170 out of 550 U.S. warehouses by the first week of June, Galanti said in an earnings call on May 27.
"The first wave will actually determine how fast we roll out and what and when restrictions are lifted. I'm sure there will be a few states with unique restrictions as well," he added.
But, "most remaining locations" will have Costco samples return by the end of the same month…aka now!
There will still be safety measures in place—here's what you need to know:
Plexiglass barriers will still be up, separating customers and Costco workers, Galanti said. The samples will also be prepared in smaller batches "for better safety control." Then they will be distributed to customers one by one.
