This Beloved Ice Cream Brand Just Debuted an "Everything Bagel" Flavor

And it's as impressive as it sounds.

Columbus, Ohio–based company Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream is making it more acceptable than ever to eat ice cream for breakfast. Available in Jeni's stores and online with nationwide shipping, the brand's latest ice cream flavor is none other than "Everything Bagel."

Described as "the perfect balance of sweet, salty, and umami. Like a really great, well-seasoned bagel… that you can lick," the Everything Bagel pint features a cream cheese-flavored ice cream base and hints of butter, onion, and garlic mingle with sesame and poppy seeds to round out this classic flavor combination. The Everything Bagel ice cream joins Jeni's new collection of "Ice Cream for Breakfast" flavors, which also includes options like "Coffee with Cream," "Honey Vanilla Bean," "Skillet Cinnamon Roll," and "Wildberry Lavender," which is said to taste like Fruit Loops. This collection is available for $58 for five pints, while individual pints retail for $12 (with an order minimum of four pints for nationwide shipping).

Everything Bagel and its cohort of morning-time ice cream flavors launches after a difficult year that left many people stuck at home 24/7, with their eating habits in disarray. If you never know what time of day it is, why not eat dessert before noon?

"Being at home by ourselves all the time in 2020 gave us a lot of time to think (too much time, maybe). And we began to ponder a vexing question: why is it only acceptable to eat ice cream during certain times of the day?" the company said in a statement. "Why isn't it OK to have ice cream before 11 in the morning? If it's OK to have breakfast for dinner, why not ice cream for breakfast? Why are donuts OK for breakfast and ice cream isn't?"

This isn't Jeni's first foray into unorthodox ice cream flavors. In fact, the company, founded in 2002, is well-known for its unique ice cream flavor combos like "Sweet Cream Biscuits and Peach Jam" and "Goat Cheese With Red Cherries." The gourmet options are certainly a change from what customers might find at the grocery store, although Jeni's also offers classics like "Salty Caramel" and "Green Mint Chip."

No matter the time of day, Jeni's has an ice cream flavor to enjoy. Now, the company is ready to serve up breakfast, too.
