A Secret, Off-Menu McDonald's Item Was Just Discovered
McDonald's secret menu—which contains delicacies like the McBrunch Burger and the Land, Sea, and Air Burger—is a well-kept secret among the fast-food chain's employees and its most ardent fans. But even those who thought they knew all of the tips and tricks for scoring an unlisted item at Mickey D's did a double take at a TikTok video that recently went viral. In it, a user named Kayleigh Weeks claimed that she had purchased a whole chocolate cake at the Golden Arches.
Weeks' video showed a square-shaped cake featuring an image of Ronald McDonald and white frosting, which was revealed to have a chocolate-looking spongy interior. She claimed that she had gotten the cake for $9 at a location in Omaha, Neb. (Related: McDonald's Is Making These 8 Major Upgrades.)

Insisting that the video must be a hoax, some commenters were left in disbelief. Others claimed that similar cakes had been available at McDonald's for years—to those who knew to ask for them.
"My grandma used to buy me a [McDonald's] cake every birthday," one commenter wrote. "They've been there since the store opened," another added.
Some, who claimed to be employees of the chain, said they'd seen cakes available for staff birthdays. Others were adamant that their locations sold no such item.
"I called them and embarrassed myself," one TikToker who apparently joined the investigation said. "The lady that picked up laughed at me."
Weeks herself admitted that the offer likely wasn't available at all McDonald's locations. And to prove she wasn't pulling a fast one on the TikTok community, she posted a second video showing herself buying another cake at the same location—receipt and all.
