The veggie- and fruit-based beverages are made from a combination of cold-pressed fruit, juice blends and a special Greek yogurt Starbucks developed with Dannon. They come in three flavors: Strawberry, Mango Carrot and Sweet Greens, and can be customized by adding fresh kale, bananas, blueberries or protein powder. In a recent press release, the coffee powerhouse said the drinks are free from artificial sweeteners, deliver more than 20 percent of the day’s recommended fruit and vegetable servings and range between 170-230 calories. Not bad!
Of course, consuming whole fruits and veggies is always the most nutritious, low-cal route to getting your five-a-day, but these new drinks are a not-so-awful alternative when you’re in need of a quick snack on the go. We’re hoping to see the beverage roll out at Starbucks locations across the country before the warm weather hits us head on!
