Starbucks Confirmed Its Pumpkin Spice Latte Release Date—And It’s Earlier Than Ever This Year
It probably still feels like summer where you live, but eager pumpkin lovers are already looking ahead to the fall season. Well, technically, fall doesn’t start until September. But we’re talking about the unofficial start of fall: the day Starbucks unleashes the pumpkin spice latte. And after weeks of teasing the news, Starbucks has finally confirmed the PSL release date as August 27th.
If you’re someone who loves pumpkin no matter what the temperature is outside, you’re in luck. The pumpkin spice latte will hit Starbucks on August 27th this year, so you don’t have long to wait before getting your hands on the fall-themed beverage.
Last year, Starbucks’ PSL release date fell on August 28th. So it looks like this time around, they’ve decided to give fans an extra day of pumpkin goodness. There’s only so far back they can keep pushing the date, though, or we’ll eventually see PSL release dates creeping into July. But, still, one day isn’t too much of a change.
What’s in a PSL again?
The signature drink features espresso, milk, and, of course, that pumpkin spice syrup. Starbucks describes it as having “flavor notes of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove.”
And while the PSL is Starbucks’ most well-known pumpkin-themed offering, it isn’t the only one. You can get the pumpkin syrup in iced or hot coffee, too, and there’s also the pumpkin spice Frappuccino. Don’t sleep on Starbucks’ pumpkin bread, either.
What about other chains’ pumpkin offerings?
If you don’t want to wait until the 27th, there’s good news. Dunkin’ is releasing its fall menu even earlier than Starbucks, with the chain’s Cinnamon Sugar Pumpkin Signature Latte hitting stores today, August 21st. Like the PSL, the new Dunkin’ latte will be available in both hot and iced formats.
Plus, Dunkin’ will also be selling apple cider donuts and apple cider Munchkins, along with pumpkin donuts and Munchkins. There’s even a pumpkin muffin, so you’ll have plenty of fall-themed baked goods to choose from.
Gregory’s Coffee, Peet’s Coffee, Pret-a-Manger, The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf, and even McDonald’s have all offered pumpkin spice lattes in the past, too. They might not get as much hype as Starbucks’ offering, but there’s no shortage of pumpkin drinks to go around. Wherever you get your coffee, you’re sure to find a tasty fall beverage, even if the weather outside doesn’t match.
