Lt. Col. Jason Barber is a longstanding member of the U.S. Army Reserve and is the H2F Program Manager at the 81st Readiness Division at Ft. Jackson, SC. In this role, Lt. Col. Barber leads the implementation of the U.S. Army’s Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) system – the force’s battle-tested initiative to enhance Soldier readiness across physical, mental, nutritional, sleep, and spiritual health. Modeled after Special Forces and professional and collegiate athletic training, H2F is changing the Army’s culture of health and fitness, moving away from a one-size-fits-all model and acknowledging the uniqueness of every Soldier, unit, and mission.
Most recently, Lt. Col Barber served as the high performance coordinator of the Army’s World Class Athlete Program (WCAP), where he helps Soldier-athletes qualify for the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Over his career he has implemented wellness programs at the state and federal levels that continue to keep Soldiers fit, and he was one of the first strength and conditioning coaches in the Special Operations community. Lt. Col. Barber holds advanced degrees in exercise science and physician assistant studies as well as numerous certifications including dry needling, spinal manipulation, certified strength and conditioning, sports performance Olympic weightlifting, tactical strength and conditioning, and USA Track and Field Level I certification.
