Patricia is a nurse with experience in Pediatrics, Critical Care, Occupational Health and Tobacco Control. I have a Masters in Nursing Education and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Case Western Reserve University. She is the director of the Northwell's Center for Tobacco Control (CTC), an IRB-approved program which provides direct tobacco cessation services to the employees of Northwell Health as well as all interested community members.
Patricia has presented original research and tobacco control information at local, national and international conferences. With grant funding from the New York State DOH Tobacco Control Program, she educates healthcare providers in hospitals, clinics and offices about treating their patients for tobacco dependence in Nassau and Suffolk Counties, with a focus on practitioners who treat those with the highest rates of smoking-those with less than high school education, those at or below the poverty line, and those with behavioral health disorders.
The CTC also provides educational outreach to our community members in the form of tobacco prevention for elementary, middle, and high school students as well as tobacco dependence treatment seminars to nursing programs, Northwell/Hofstra's School of Medicine, and Hofstra's PA program.
