5 Outback Steakhouse Orders Customers Swear Are Better Than the Steak

For steak fans, Outback Steakhouse is a staple when it comes to chain restaurants. Although they’re known for their steaks, just like Longhorn and Texas Roadhouse, there are plenty of other things on the menu that shouldn’t be missed. From seafood to chicken, consider branching out from the usual steak the next time you visit Outback Steakhouse with these five items that diners say are just as good!
Hooley Dooley Coconut Shrimp

The Hooley Dooley Coconut Shrimp consists of jumbo prawns, coated in a coconut breading and served with two sides. “There are no longer Outbacks where I live and this was a treat. Our server was fantastic! She went above and beyond for us,” a Yelp reviewer said. “The restaurant was clean and very inviting. I had the coconut shrimp with a side of loaded mashed potatoes. It was delicious!”
Kookaburra Wings

The Kookaburra Wings (essentially their goofy name for chicken wings), is another favorite among diners. “Their kookaburra wings are unmatched. Get them hot (it’s really not that spicy, just more seasoning),” one said on a Reddit thread. Another backed this, saying “they are delicious. I recall them only doing drums for a period of time back in the early 2000’s. The homemade blue cheese is good too.”
House Salad

This might seem like an odd one to mention, but a simple salad with mixed greens and chopped veggies topped with a little sprinkle of Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese, and homemade croutons is a favorite side dish of visitors because of their delicious ranch dressing. “I had the house salad and ranch dressing w croutons and have been trying to replicate it at home ever since. I can’t find the right salad or croutons and the ranch isn’t the same,” a Reddit user said.
French Onion Soup

The ultra cheesy French Onion Soup is another starter diners recognize. “Here for lunch, trying their endless soup [and] salad, French onion soup is amazing, best I ever [had], house salad is good with tomatoes, their bread is always the best, compared what I have same soup [and] salad at [a different] place, this is the best,” a Yelp review said.
The Bloomin’ Onion

The Bloomin’ Onion is an iconic appetizer at Outback Steakhouse, and a favorite amongst guests. “The Bloomin’ Onion is fun, looks great on the table, and tastes just as good. The atmosphere is family style, nothing fancy, but it’s clean and comfortable,” a Yelp reviewer said.
