5 Texas Roadhouse Orders Diners Say Are Actually Better Than the Steak

Evidence-Based
Diners say these five Texas Roadhouse dishes are better than the steak.

I’ve tasted many items off of the Texas Roadhouse menu, from every single side and appetizer, to every steak that’s offered and I have yet to have a bad meal there. Although Texas Roadhouse is known for their steaks, there are so many other delicious items on their menu that diners are starting to recognize. From barbecue classics to fresh seafood, here are five orders that guests say are worth skipping the steak for.

Fall-Off-The-Bone Ribs

The ribs are a favorite among diners (and that includes me)! “I [have worked] at Texas roadhouse as a server for a long time now. The #3 store in the country even,” a Reddit user said. “[The ribs are] amazing. We don’t call them “fall off the bone ribs” for no reason. I hate eating finger food. I eat them with a fork with ease. No meat sticks to the bone. And our house made BBQ sauce is amazing.”

Grilled Salmon

Although salmon isn’t a stand out option at Texas Roadhouse, diners say you shouldn’t ignore it. “My husband and I went there a couple of weeks ago. Very pleasant experience even though it was Friday night and very busy. I had the salmon and he had the rib eye. Both were very tasty,” a Reddit user said, praising the salmon. “Salmon from Texas Roadhouse is AMAZING,” another said. While a 3rd followed, saying “my friend used to give me [a hard time] for getting salmon at a steak restaurant lol. It’s just so good I couldn’t not order it.”

Rattlesnake Bites

The Rattlesnake Bites are a fan favorite with spicy, diced jalapeños and creamy jack cheese, with a crispy coating and a side of cajun sauce. “Honestly the only appetizer I find impressive is the rattlesnake bites,” a Texas Roadhouse server said on a Reddit thread. “It’s jack cheese, red peppers and jalapeno in a light batter and fried.”

Texas Red Chili

Whether you get it as a side, a main, or a small to go bowl for lunch tomorrow, the Texas Red Chili is another dish fans of the chain love. Made from scratch and topped with onions and cheese, the chili gets a lot of love. “The Texas red chili is SOOOOO good especially when you dip the bread in it,” a reviewer on Reddit said. Another review on Yelp said, “the best thing was the cup of chili. [We] took two bowls of it.” Doubling up because it’s that good, and honestly, I second that.

Fresh Baked Rolls with Honey Cinnamon Butter

The free rolls come with a sweet honey cinnamon butter, and diners rave about them. So much so that it felt wrong not to mention them. Be sure to save room for at least a few before or during the meal. “Those buttered rolls, signature and irresistible. Annoying almost I’m trying to watch my girlish figure,” a reviewer said on Yelp. Baked fresh every 5 minutes (according to the website), the rolls are a staple at Texas Roadhouse.
