McDonald's Is Bringing Back This Rare Holiday Menu Item
The holidays have arrived at McDonald's in the form of sprinkle-covered pies! Sure, McDonald's apple pies are delicious, but you can get those any old time. The McDonald's holiday pies only come around every once in awhile, and they've already been spotted this holiday season.
The sweeter-than-sweet pie popped up a few years ago around Christmas and disappeared just as fast. In fact, there's no rhyme or reason to these holiday pies coming in stock at McDonald's at all. The fast-food joint answered a hungry fan on Twitter who inquired about the pies, only to tell them to check their local McDonald's.
So basically, the sprinkle-laden holiday pies aren't at every McDonald's, but they might be at your local golden arches. If you're a McDonald's devotee and swing through the drive-through frequently, there's no harm in asking if the pies are available. Otherwise, you can call around to the restaurants in your area to see if any might have them in stock. (P.S. That isn't all the brand has up its sleeve these days… it's also making these 8 major upgrades.)

If you haven't had one of McDonald's holiday pies in previous years, here's what you need to know: The glazed, buttery crust is stuffed with vanilla custard and coated in rainbow sprinkles. While it might be reminiscent of a birthday cake, it'll also give you all the vibes of Christmas cutout cookies.
As to be expected with a McDonald's dessert, it's not the healthiest thing you can pick up from the restaurant. The chain's regular apple pies have 240 calories, 33 grams of carbs, and 15 grams of sugar, and McDonald's holiday pies are pretty much the same: These treats will run you 260 calories, 32 grams of carbs, and 12 grams of sugar.
However, the holidays only come around once a year, and these limited-edition pies are a treat that might be worth the splurge. Maybe you have a healthy meal beforehand and treat yourself to just one holiday pie that you can savor?
