These Chocolate Products Have Just Been Pulled From Grocery Shelves

They may contain undeclared allergens.

Just days after the recall of H-E-B's Creamy Creations Light Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, two more sweet treats have been pulled from grocery shelves.

On August 5, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of That's it Dark Chocolate Truffle products and Farmer's All Natural 2% Reduced Fat Chocolate Milk Pints.

The chocolate truffles were taken off the shelves because they "may contain trace amounts of milk proteins," which was not marked on the packaging. According to the FDA, "people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products." The agency noted that the issue was linked to "cross contamination on shared lines with milk chocolate."

The affected items include 3.5-, 5-, and 16-ounce pouches of the following truffle flavors: Fig, Date, Banana, Raisin, and Fig with Sea Salt. The products, which were distributed both online and in retail stores, bear expiration dates ranging from March 23, 2023 to July 8, 2024.

Similarly, Royal Crest's Reduced Fat Chocolate Milk was also found to be contaminated with an undeclared allergen: egg. This poses a risk of a serious and sometimes life-threatening allergic reaction for those with an egg allergy or severe sensitivity.

The milk pints, which display the code date of AUG-22, were sold to stores in southern Colorado, including multiple Pester/Alta locations, Kwik Shop, Mesa Lagrees Grocery, Roller's Donuts & Pastry Shop, and the Parkview Medical Center Coffee Station.

Although there have been no reports of illness or allergic reactions caused by either product, the FDA advises individuals who still have the truffles or chocolate milk to return them to their place of purchase for a full refund.
