Starbucks Is Launching This Major New Drink in Grocery Stores

This fruity, sparkling, and energy-boosting drink is a first for the brand.

Sometimes, you just need a little caffeine.

Whether you're a student working to crush through a research project or a busy parent keeping track of your little ones, there are so many options out there when it comes to energy drinks that it can be hard to find the right one for you.

But now, Starbucks aficionados can check "energy drink" off their wish lists. The brand has just released a line of fruity, sparkling energy drinks available at grocery stores nationwide starting today, January 25.

The drink, called Starbucks BAYA Energy, is crafted from caffeine naturally found in coffee fruit and contains vitamin C for immune support. Each 12-ounce can contains 90 calories, 160 milligrams of caffeine, and comes in three flavors: mango guava, raspberry lime, and pineapple passionfruit. Its suggested retail price is $2.89.

According to the Mayo Clinic, up to 400 milligrams of caffeine per day is considered safe for most adults. An eight-ounce cup of coffee typically contains around 96 milligrams of caffeine, so the Starbucks BAYA Energy drink definitely packs a bit more of a punch than the average cup of joe.

According to the brand, Starbucks BAYA Energy will be available at grocery stores, convenience stores, gas stations, and online grocery retailers. It will also be available at Starbucks chains nationwide starting March 1.

"We're thrilled to introduce Starbucks BAYA Energy to our customers, providing them with a refreshing, fruit-flavored boost of feel-good energy, in a way only Starbucks can deliver," said Chanda Beppu, vice president of channel development Americas at Starbucks. "Over the years, we've continued to identify new and exciting ways to expand our ready-to-drink portfolio and saw an opportunity to complement our existing coffee beverage lineup with Starbucks BAYA Energy, the brand's first beverage to launch in the energy category."
