Worst Food In the World: Nutella Poppers
With each changing season seems to come a new slew of foods with catastrophic calorie counts—you health-minded foodies out there know exactly what we're talking about. And if you've ever been curious how bad these trendy eats actually are, you're going to love our latest column: Worst Food in the World. In each installment, we find out just how villainous these nutritional nightmares really are. Taking center stage in today's edition is the West Michigan Whitecaps' Nutella Poppers.
What's a Nutella Popper you ask? It's sweet, deep-fried dough that's been stuffed with Nutella and rolled in sugar, of course! While the recipe only includes four primary ingredients, the calorie count is hefty. The creation carries an estimated 1,986 calories (the equivalent of 473 Skittles) plus it has as much fat as 38 strips of bacon and more sugar than 18 Blueberry Munchkins from Dunkin' Donuts. Yikes! Baseball concession stands really know how to send their fans into a food coma!
With nutrition counts that catastrophic, you obviously wouldn't want to polish off an entire serving yourself—especially if you're watching your weight or planning on eating much else the rest of the day. Our suggestion: If you want to give these bad boys a try, round up four or five friends and split the lot (ball games are more fun with a big group anyway). Or, better yet, break out that ironclad willpower and skip this calorie bomb altogether.
