4 New Menu Items You'll See at McDonald's This Fall

While most of the novelties are seasonal, a major core menu drop could be coming before the end of the year.

McDonald's likes to keep things pretty classic when it comes to its core menu. Big Macs, chicken sandwiches, and McNuggets are the reliable fan favorites that won't be changing any time soon. But that doesn't mean that the fast-food giant doesn't like to adorn its menu and delight its fans with some seasonal limited-time offers.

And this year, the chain didn't disappoint. The latest items to hit the menu include fall-themed treats that you'll be able to find at participating locations nationwide. Additionally, a major new release as part of the core menu has been in the works for over a year—here's where things currently stand with its release date.

Last year, McDonald's beefed up its McCafe line of baked goodies for the first time in a decade with the addition of Apple Fritter, Blueberry Muffin, and Cinnamon Roll. And this August, the chain announced another classic bakery treat that can be eaten for breakfast or as a dessert throughout the day: the Glazed Pull Apart Donut. The item became available on September 15 and will unfortunately only be around for a limited time.

Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for another guest appearance at the chain. Following a three-year hiatus, Mickey D's is back in action with both a hot and an iced version of the seasonal favorite. The drink offers a unique blend of cinnamon and pumpkin flavors, poured over 100% Arabica coffee with the customer's choice of whole or nonfat milk. Find it at participating stores for a limited time.

Another pumpkin-flavored treat making a seasonal return to select locations is the Pumpkin and Creme Pie, a dessert that uses the well-known turnover-style crust to envelope a pumpkin pie filling on one side and a creme filling on the other.

According to Chewboom, the dessert has recently been spotted in the wild by customers and social media users, and will be gone after the fall season.

McPlant

The next big thing at McDonald's is upon us, but all we know is that it may or may not be coming to a location near you this fall. The McPlant will be more than just a single product, it'll be a whole plant-based platform, a first-of-its-kind launch by the fast-food giant. First in line is the McPlant burger, and while the chain hasn't yet specified its release date in the United States, its testing is well underway in other parts of the world. Customers in Sweden, Denmark, and Austria were among the first to try it earlier this year, while plans for its UK debut on October 13 have just been announced.

McDonald's has told us that the decision about when each market is ready for the McPlant test will be one made judiciously. "We expect other McDonald's markets will test the McPlant later this year and into the future," the company said. "This will be a market-by-market decision based on local customer demand."

Until then, here's what you can expect once the new burger hits our shores: a juicy, plant-based patty served on a sesame seed bun with tomato, lettuce, pickles, onions, mayonnaise-style sauce, ketchup, mustard, and a slice of American cheese.
