If you’re a McDonald's fan, you’re probably not going there for the grass-fed beef or farmers’ market produce (because they don’t have any). But according to a current manager from the UK—who fielded Ask Me Anything (AMA) questions on Reddit last week—some Golden Arches dishes are so far from fresh, they’re barely food.
When asked what menu item customers should never buy, she replied, “Don't order… the grilled chicken. It's horrible frozen chicken that we defrost and steam and it's a bit gelatinous.”
We’re not lovin’ that.
The manager also revealed the existence of a McDonald's secret menu, which has always been rumored but, like the Loch Ness monster, never confirmed. She explained that, even if some employees don't know the secret items by name, if you can dictate how to make them, and all the ingredients are available, you should be able to place the order.
Two of the more popular items discussed on the thread—and there were a lot of them—include the McGangBang, which is a McChicken sandwich placed inside a McDouble, and The Land, Air, and Sea burger, which is a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish, and McChicken sandwich all stacked. That calorie- and fat-filled monster goes for $8.49—a bargain, if you don’t count the possible hospital bill.
