Costco Is Distributing the COVID-19 Vaccine in These 5 States

The wholesale retailer is offering a limited number of doses, typically Moderna.

Costco is one of the grocery chains that partnered with the federal government to distribute a COVID-19 vaccine, and the list of stores with available appointments has just been updated.

"Costco is offering a limited number of COVID-19 vaccines, typically Moderna, in select locations," the company revealed.

The bulk retailer is discouraging customers from calling the pharmacy at their neighborhood store to make an appointment, because employees don't have access to do so. Eligible patients will be able to schedule an appointment online.

In addition to the five states listed below, Costco is also offering a COVID-19 vaccine in the following locations in Puerto Rico: Caguas, Carolina, East Bayamon, and West Bayamon.

If a Costco in your state isn't distributing a vaccine at this time, you can visit the CDC's website to locate other participating grocery stores in your area. And for more Costco news delivered right to your email inbox every day, sign up for our newsletter!

Los Angeles and Riverside Counties boast multiple Costco locations, which will administer a limited number of COVID-19 vaccinations. You can currently get the vaccine in both counties if you're a healthcare worker, a long-term care facility resident, or over the age of 65.

L.A. County first responders, food workers, and teachers will also be added to eligibility lists soon, even though supplies of both the Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are relatively low, according to The Los Angeles Times.

Costco is distributing a vaccine on both coasts—and with several locations around New York City, residents will be able to get vaccinated at the warehouse. However, the city's COVID-19 vaccinations webpage says, "There is limited supply of vaccine from the federal government at this time. You may not see open appointments on the Vaccine Finder right now, but check back regularly. New appointments will open up once more supply becomes available."

Individuals who are able to get the shot must also bring proof of eligibility with them. For more on preparing for the vaccine, These Foods May Make the COVID-19 Vaccine Less Effective, Says New Study.

Almost 15 areas in Oregon with at least one Costco location are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations. They include: Albany, Aloha, Bend, Central Point, Clackamas, Eugene, Hillsboro, Portland, Roseburg, Salem, Tigard, Warrenton, and Wilsonville.

Parts of the state are currently seeing snow, which have resulted in canceled appointments, according to local news stations. For the latest information, check out this website.

Though South Carolina is on the list, Costco doesn't mention any specific locations where customers can get the COVID-19 vaccine. "If there are no appointments available at Costco, the location will not show up on the SC vaccine finder tool," it says.

Those in Phase 1A are the only individuals who are eligible at this time, according to the state's Department of Health website. That list includes health care workers, people aged 65 and older. (You can find the complete list here.)

Costco is headquartered outside of Seattle in Issaquah, Wash. As with South Carolina, the grocery chain doesn't list exactly where it's offering the COVID-19 vaccinations in the state. But locations in Asotin, Benton, Chelan, Clallam, Clark, King, Kitsap, Pierce, Skagit, Snohomish, Spokane, Thurston, Whatcom, and Yakima counties will offer it, according to Washington's Department of Health website.

The rollout to certain states follows the timeline provided by the CEO of Costco a few weeks back. For more on COVID-19 vaccinations at your local grocery stores, here is the latest from the CDC.
