McDonald's Is Giving Away Free Items This Week

Here's how to score a gratis chicken sandwich or burger.

McDonald's is feeling generous! And it has to do with astrology. The chain has just announced a 2-day giveaway that will include a free sandwich or burger, in order to help fans survive the upcoming Mercury retrograde.

This period of time, when the planet Mercury appears to be moving backward, is known in astrology as a phenomenon we should dread and one characterized by difficult communication and frequent misunderstandings. So to assuage any trouble that may come upon its fans, the Mickey D's is offering a free McChicken or McDouble on May 10 and 11.

And don't miss McDonald's Just Brought Back This Beloved Bakery Item.

Starting tomorrow, all you need to do to score one of the free items is purchase an order of medium fries through the McDonald's app.

And to further provide celestial guidance to fans, the chain is partnering with astrology expert Madam Adam, who will give select fans a McDonald's-inspired Tarot reading on TikTok. Starting today, fans can comment with their name and Zodiac sign on Madam Adam's TikTok or Instagram posts announcing the McDonald's Mercury retrograde deal.

Madam Adam will then pick a lucky few for a special reading that will take place on TikTok live on Tuesday, May 10. You can also try your luck by commenting during the live session, which will start at 6 p.m. EST, for a last-shot chance to be selected. But even if you aren't selected, grab a free McChicken or McDouble and tune in to find out what exactly the future holds during this period of celestial mayhem.

As astrology fans know, Mercury retrograde, which happens three times a year, will last all the way through June 2. So we'll need more freebies and deals to get through the difficult time, McDonald's—keep 'em coming!
