Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond Reveals How She Lost 38 Pounds in 5 Months

The celebrity chef slimmed down by making just a few changes to her daily routine.

As a celebrity chef and cookbook author, Ree Drummond's life revolves around food—and not all of it is healthy fare. However, despite the myriad temptations her line of work may subject her to, the Pioneer Woman has managed to shed an impressive 38 pounds over the past five months.

In a new TikTok, Drummond reveals that she kicked off her journey at the beginning of 2021 and has made just a few simple changes to lose weight.

"I can't get away from food and I love to eat. Of course, it crept on me through the years, especially during COVID," she explained. "Starting in January, I decided to get busy and lose some weight."

So, what's the secret to Drummond's success? The Food Network star says there were "no gimmicks" involved in her weight loss success.

"I just cut calories, exercised more, lifted a lot of weights," Drummond explains, noting that she specifically worked on building more muscle in her arms, legs, and backside. "Moving more and building muscle has been the key for me!"

To stay satisfied on fewer calories, Drummond says she bulked up her protein intake. "I still love fries, though," she says.

Though the changes in Drummond's shape are obvious, she says that it's her overall wellbeing—not just her appearance—that has benefitted from her weight loss.

"I look better, but I feel so much better, and that's what really counts," she says. "I'm still a goofball, I just have a lot more energy."

Drummond has long been vocal about her refusal to ever promote risky weight loss programs, specifically speaking out against companies that have used her name or image to promote quick fixes for weight loss.

"Please don't buy ANY weight loss product using my name! I have never endorsed any diet or weight loss pills, and I never will," she told her Facebook followers in 2018 after a company used Drummond's photos to promote diet pills.

"Here's the straight skinny: I am a regular gal who loves food and whose jeans periodically get too tight. Right now I am losing weight and my jeans are fitting better, but it's because I am eating fewer carbs and walking/sweating with my dogs every night," she explained.
