This Convenience Store Is Rolling Out a New Burger at All 920 of Its Locations

Wawa is now entering fast-food territory.

Wawa is looking forward to making you dinner this year. The convenience store chain, which already serves breakfast sandwiches and hoagies, is launching a new line of filling options that will compete with fast-food restaurants at nighttime.

First up? Wawa is releasing a brand new all-natural Angus beef burger at all 920 locations this week.

"Wawa is excited to launch our new dinner platform in 2021 with the burger becoming the first dinner item to roll out across all stores," Mike Sherlock, chief product marketing officer, said. (Related: McDonald's Is Making These 8 Major Upgrades.)

The new burger can be as simple or as loaded as you wish. It features a completely customizable base that can be fixed up with layers of bacon, cheese, endless fresh toppings, and sauces, according to a news release.

It's one of several new innovations unveiled by Wawa in recent months. The chain opened its first-ever store with an attached drive-thru in New Jersey in December. It also debuted its first stand-alone drive-thru in Pennsylvania this year. The two locations have been testing the new burger, which has become their best-selling menu item—proof that there's always room for a new well-priced burger option in a competitive quick-service market.

Other customers can now order the burger in stores using touch screens; for delivery through third-party partners Door Dash, Grub Hub, Postmates, and Uber Eats; and for curbside pickup starting at 4 p.m. local time every day.

To celebrate the release of its new burger, Wawa is also giving away a year's supply to one lucky customer. To participate, all you have to do is fill out a form on the chain's website between today and Feb. 19.
