McDonald's Just Unveiled a Golden Shamrock Shake & It Comes With a Hefty Price Tag
On today's list of things that we absolutely need in our lives but can't afford is McDonald's unbelievable Golden Shamrock Shake in honor of the seasonal treat's 50th anniversary.
Calling all socialites, McDonald's lavish trinket can be yours if the price is right—all you have to do is bid on the Golden Shamrock Shake on eBay, with all proceeds going to Ronald McDonald House Charities. The bidding started at just $1 today at 5 a.m., but now the price has already surpassed $20,000.
McDonald's spared no expense when it came to crafting this exclusive Golden Shamrock Shake. Jewelers (because this thing is covered in actual jewels) spent more than 140 hours hand-placing 150 jewels onto the 18K solid gold. There are 50 green emeralds and white diamonds to represent the 50 years of the Shamrock Shake and its ever-present whipped cream, as well as 50 yellow diamonds in each of the Golden Arches on the cup.
The Golden Arches have truly never looked so flashy. Oh, and did we mention the cup is appraised at $90,000?
The Golden Shamrock Shake is up for bid on eBay right now, and the price is climbing rapidly. Bidding ends at 5 a.m. ET on March 6, so if you want to take this baby home, you need to get your bids in fast.
Now, for the majority of us who cannot make such a steep bid, McDonald's is offering another way to win the Golden Shamrock Shake. You can also purchase a Shamrock Shake or Oreo Shamrock McFlurry on the McDonald's app and gain entry to win your very own Golden Shamrock Shake for absolutely free.
If you're someone who can't go without a Shamrock Shake (or a dozen) every year when #ShamrockShakeSZN rolls around, this auction is for you. Just maybe don't try to drink your Shamrock Shake out of this bejeweled cup. Or, maybe risk it all and do it anyway, because in the end there's nothing cooler than drinking your Shamrock Shake from a cup that's worth almost $100,000.
