6 Morning Exercises That Flatten Your Stomach Faster Than Gym Machines After 50

Growing older can feel quite overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. As you age, your metabolism gradually slows, you naturally start to lose lean muscle mass, and your hormones shift. For women, a drop in estrogen can lead to excess belly fat. Men begin to lose testosterone with age, which is linked to visceral fat building up in the abdominal region. What’s a 50-something to do? We’re here to help.
According to Dr. Mariam Zakhary, DO, Clinical Advisor of Ikon Recovery Center, located in New Jersey, who’s double board-certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation as well as Sports Medicine, there are six productive morning exercises that can help strengthen and sculpt your core faster than gym machines.
“While these exercises may help create a firmer, more toned midsection, there isn’t one exercise that will specifically burn belly fat. A flatter-appearing abdomen results from improved posture, increased muscle tone and strength, an active lifestyle, proper diet or nutrition, and losing overall body fat,” Dr. Zakhary points out.
