Costco Just Brought Back This Discontinued Bakery Item

It's been years since this item was seen in the bakery.

Any true Costco shopper knows that the bakery section is one to rival any local grocery store. Throughout the years there have been many beloved bakery items that have come and gone, much to the disappointment of many members. One of Costco's most iconic baked favorites that has disappeared is one of the many muffin varieties—the Almond Poppy Seed Muffin. However, it just made a comeback.

The long-lost muffin has been spotted by the moderator of the Instagram account @Costcohotfinds in Dallas, Texas on April 22. It's been a while since many customers have had the chance to revisit this Almond Poppyseed Muffin, which had been discontinued in many stores for the past couple of years, according to commenters on the post.

Since the pandemic, Costco significantly cut down the variety of breakfast staples that were available, particularly on the muffin tables. Other areas of the warehouse saw cuts, too, particularly the food court. Like the Almond Poppy Seed Muffins and other bakery items, members still mourn the loss of the combo pizza. The bakery has seen some of its items return, as has the food court, but the iconic pizza slice is still missing.

Members' love of the muffin wasn't forgotten after it disappeared, however, and many "copycat" recipes can be found online trying to mimic the flavor. While these recipes were good substitutes, there is nothing like being able to go to the bakery section and buy a big box of huge poppy seed muffins, where the only clean-up afterward is the crumbs.

According to @Costcohotfinds' post, the Almond Poppy Seed Muffins are made that much better by warming them in an air fryer and then spreading honey butter on them. One thing to remember, though, is that this Costco muffin is two serving sizes.

One whole one has 640 calories, 36 grams of fat, 8 grams of saturated fat, 580 milligrams of sodium, 72 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber, 36 grams of sugar, and 10 grams of protein. This is slightly less sugar than others, but having half can help prevent a sugar crash later in the day. Sharing is caring and will help make the pack of six last longer, too.
