Chris Hemsworth Shares His #1 Eating Habit

The actor has always been super in shape, but his diet has certainly changed from movie to movie.

When you think of fitness goals, Chris Hemsworth probably comes to mind. The star's insane muscles and sculpted body have wowed MCU fans for years– and now he's back in action. "Thor: Love and Thunder" premieres July 8, and we can't help but wonder what Hemsworth eats to pull off a thunder god.

The actor has always been super in shape, but his diet has certainly changed from movie to movie. Now 38 years old, Hemsworth has one eating habit that he always follows to keep up his picture-perfect physique.

In a new WIRED interview, the "Thor" star opened up about his diet these days. For the most part, Hemsworth sticks to balanced meals: "I do eat a lot of protein but I also have a lot of vegetables," he said. According to his on-set chef and nutritional consultant Sergio Perera, a typical dinner for Hemsworth might be white fish with grilled mushrooms and raw broccoli salad or grilled mahi-mahi with asparagus, roasted tomato, and non-dairy Caesar salad.

Notice what's missing from these meals: carbs. The actor is actually not the biggest fan of carbs in his diet plan. "I don't eat a huge amount of carbohydrates. I think my body responds to lean protein more and healthy fats and vegetables," he told WIRED.

But something you may not know about the celeb is that he loves dessert and fast food. "But like anyone, you know, I have a sweet tooth," he told WIRED. "I have a real appetite and passion for pizza and burgers and ice cream and all the bad things."

So how does Hemsworth stay consistent with all these cravings? Well, his top diet secret is that he eats healthy most of the time, but also gives himself space to eat a juicy, cheesy burger every now and then. "I try give myself, you know, sort of an 80-20 rule…The good being 80% and 20% being the cheap meal if you will," he said in his WIRED interview.

Other stars have also been known to follow the 80-20 rule, like Blake Lively and Kate Moss. The 80-20 rule has even been recommended by the Eat This, Not That! Medical Expert Board as a great way to achieve healthy eating goals. Amy Goodson, MS, RD, CSSD, LD, said that it's important to learn how to include the inevitable "cheat meal" into your diet without going overboard.
