Serious health nuts and people trying to lose weight don’t typically frequent fast food joint like McDonald’s, but that all might change thanks to a new Golden Arches’ concept, McCafé.
The new fast-casual eatery, named after McDonald's coffee line, launched its first location today in Toronto, Canada with a second location slated to open in early in 2016. In place of McDonald’s infamous nuggets, burgers and fries, McCafé offers healthier pre-packaged, "on-the-go" options like chicken noodle soup and salads. These waist-friendly options will inlcude ingredients like kale, Brussels sprouts, quinoa and edamame. The menu also features a host of sandwiches, breakfast pastries and coffee beverages.
Although it’s too soon to speculate if McCafé will make its way to the states, historically McDonald’s tests new concepts in well-performing markets like Canada and Australia before considering bringing them to the US. While we’re waiting to see what may happen in the months to come, you’ll have to settle for Ronald McDonald’s original drive-thru menu. Not sure which items are the best bets for your health?
