Mark Your Calendar: Starbucks’ Frappuccino Happy Hour Is Coming Soon

The only thing more caloric than your local watering hole’s Happy Hour is Frappuccino Happy Hour at Starbucks.

Yes, that’s right, the yearly half-priced Frappuccino event is returning nationwide from May 1-10 between the hours of 3 and 5 p.m. The only problem? The deal applies to all Frapp flavors and sizes. Most of the coffee chain’s Frapps are glorified ice cream sundaes loaded with caffeine, so if you’re not careful, you could easily blow 600 calories and 88 grams of sugar (that’s the equivalent of 34 Hershey’s Kisses) on a discounted “pick me up.”

We’re not going to tell you not to hit up the deal, because if you’re a big fan of the ‘Bux, there’s only a slim chance that you’d pass up the opportunity to save some cash by ordering a Frapp instead of your go-to order. But if you’re serious about losing weight before summer, we suggest skipping the flavored varieties like the seasonal S’mores Frappuccino and the fat- and sugar-packed Java Chip Frappuccino Blended Coffee and opting for their least calorie-dense option—the Coffee Frappuccino Light—instead. A tall, 12 ounce order of the blended beverage (made with nonfat milk and no whipped cream) has 90 calories, 18 grams of sugar and 3 grams of protein. Considering a fair share of the calories and sugar come from the slim milk, this is the smartest pick on the Frappy Hour menu–and one that will help keep you on track towards your better body goals.
