Although grocery delivery isn’t a new concept, getting produce delivered to your doorstep within 36 hours of harvest, is. And thanks to Amazon, this practice may just become the new standard.
In partnership with Fresh Nation, the company is testing its new Farmers Market Direct delivery service in Southern California. If successful, they hope to expand the program and make fresh local food available to customers across the country — which is great news. Freshly picked fruits and veggies typically contain more health-boosting vitamins and essential nutrients for weight loss than the stuff that’s been shipped, put into storage and then, weeks later, stocked on supermarket shelves.
Currently, small and large produce baskets are being sold for $39 and $59, respectively, and the cost includes the delivery fee. Customers can also buy individual items like nuts and small produce packages for a modest delivery charge. We’re eager to find out when this Amazon plans to expand the territory for this service — sign us up!
