It's lunchtime, and you've just made yourself a sandwich so perfect, it's almost a sin to even touch it. But before even glomming it down, you probably take a knife and cut it in half, right? Sure, you could technically eat the sandwich with the full slice of bread intact, but we all know that slicing a sandwich in half before eating it is the way to go. However, if you're not slicing your sandwich properly, you could be ruining your perfect sandwiches before even tasting it.

Cut your sandwich with the proper knife

To cut the perfect sandwich, you need the right kind of knife. Even though you may think any knife will do when cutting your sandwich, it never turns out the way you want. A butter knife, or even a chef's knife, won't cut a sandwich perfectly down the middle. Instead, the sandwich bread and fillings will squish down together, causing your fillings to fall out the outer edges and onto your plate. And if all your toppings end up on the plate, what's the point of making a sandwich in the first place?

Not using the proper knife will create squished down bread that looks rather unappetizing. Instead, you want to cut your sandwich with a serrated knife. The serrated knife will cut right through the bread perfectly, as well as your toppings, leaving you with two perfectly sliced halves of your sandwich—and no fillings on your plate.

Think about it: Why is the bread knife always serrated? Because it's the best kind of knife to cut a loaf of bread! Even if you're enjoying your sandwich on simple slices from a store-bought loaf, the serrated knife will cut your sandwich so beautifully, you'll probably cry.
