Cholesterol Drugs Offer Hope of Reducing Heart Attacks and Strokes
Per the NY Times: "A new class of experimental cholesterol drugs might sharply reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes, researchers reported on Sunday, citing what they described as preliminary evidence. The drugs, one being developed by Amgen and the other by Sanofi and Regeneron Pharmaceuticals, are already known to dramatically reduce so-called bad cholesterol, sometimes to levels lower than those achieved by statins like Lipitor, the mainstay lipid-lowering medicines." Real Reason Why E-Cigarette Ads Give Us The Urge To Smoke Real One
Per Tech Times: "Advertisements for electronic cigarettes can drive smokers to smoke more and tempt ex-smokers to hit the tobacco habit again, a new study concludes. Researchers studied 884 current and former smokers as they viewed television ads featuring e-cigarettes. Energy Drinks May Raise Blood Pressure, Cardiac Risks
Per the University Herald: "New research suggests that healthy young adults who do not consume caffeine regularly have a higher blood pressure after consumption. Researchers found that people experienced greater rise in resting blood pressure after consumption of a commercially available energy drink — compared to a placebo drink—thus raising the concern that energy drinks may increase the risk of cardiac events."
